The consumer journey is the process of different experiences and interactions a consumer has with a specific brand or product over time. It starts with awareness, then to consideration, to the purchase decision, consumer retention, then finally ends with the consumer becoming an advocate. Understanding how these stages can be influenced helps brands take actions towards what their consumers need to get to the point of advocacy.
Social media can play a large role in how brands are able to influence their consumers. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok give businesses a new opportunity to build awareness, engage with consumers, and maintain strong relationships with their consumers. Content can be tailored in mailable, interactive, and creative ways to meet consumers where they are, whether they are discovering a brand, comparing options, or deciding whether to make a purchase.
Ultimately, understanding the consumer journey allows businesses to create more meaningful and intentional connections with their audiences. By using social media to provide the right content at each stage, brands can not only attract new consumers but also build lasting relationships that encourage loyalty, engagement, and advocacy.
