Have you started working on your 2025 marketing budget yet?
Most people start creating their budgets in the fall. This allows for enough time to review past data, identify trends, incorporate them into the new budget and get approval from leadership before the new year starts.
Our team is already analyzing our 2024 results and adjusting as we build, plan and populate our goals for the coming year. Below I’ve pulled together 6 tips to help you plan a successful marketing budget.
One key thing to keep in mind when planning your expenses throughout the year is to always build in a buffer or additional funds to help you reach your goal. You can’t be sure all your ideas will work but you can forecast that uncertainty is a possibility and that you will need more funds to adjust in Q2 or later in the year. Set aside an additional budget so that you can pivot or try a new program that wasn’t present when first creating your plan. The buffer also allows you to sell it to your leadership team in short order. This prevents frustrating and time-consuming conversations later in the year. If the money is already in the budget, it’s much easier to spend freely.
