We’ve all been there… You’re going through your call list, making no meaningful contact with your leads, and feeling like you’re wasting your time. Even those who enjoy being on the phone never enjoy rejection. What are the best ways to combat cold calls giving you the cold shoulder?
There are a few simple ways you can set yourself up for success: First, be prepared for the “no,” or even worse, the disappointing “click” of the other line. Also, know what you’re selling, including its unique features and why or how the person on the other line can benefit. Do your research about your prospect’s business and industry, so you can be prepared to help them solve a problem or achieve a goal. And don’t let a “no” become a barrier to building a relationship. Look for opportunities to share information that you think would be useful to them, without expecting a purchase in return. After all, the art of selling is building a rapport with your customer, regardless of where they are at in the purchasing journey.
